The Tait is the quietest bright citrus home fragrance oil in the Wisp range. Sweet orange over cut grass with a soft wood base underneath, and genuinely not much else — Oil No. 6 is the plainest sentence we write, and that is deliberate.

What The Tait smells like

Sweet orange arrives first and stays first. It is round rather than sharp, closer to the peel than the juice, with none of the acid edge you get from lemon or grapefruit. Cut grass sits directly underneath — green, faintly damp, the smell of a lawn an hour after mowing — and it is the thing that stops the orange tipping into sweetness. A soft, unshowy wood holds the base. It never steps forward; it simply keeps the scent in the room longer than three notes ought to manage.

The reference point is a resort lobby on a warm afternoon: sun on stone, cool air moving, citrus somewhere in it. Simple, and not pretending otherwise. If you want a room to smell clean and bright without anyone stopping to ask what the fragrance is, this is the one.

Where to use this bright citrus home fragrance oil

Kitchens, bathrooms and children’s rooms are where The Tait earns its place. It is low-output by design, so it belongs in the rooms a louder oil would swamp: a small bathroom, a bedroom at the end of a corridor, a nursery where you want something noticeable but mild. In a kitchen it does the useful job of lifting cooking smells rather than competing with them, and the grass note keeps it from smelling like surface spray.

It is also the safest choice in a shared house. A bright citrus home fragrance oil this uncomplicated rarely divides opinion, which matters when the diffuser is running in a hallway everybody walks through. Open-plan rooms will take it too, though you will want the full-size system rather than a plug-in to give it enough push.

The Beginning sits between the two: lemon and sage with sea salt through it, brighter than The Tait but still restrained.

How to use it

This is a concentrated oil for cold-air diffusion. It is not a reed diffuser oil, and it is not made for candles or wax burners — no heat, no wick, no flame. Two or three drops in The Wisp Mini will scent one room; the Wisp Fragrance System will carry it across a whole floor.
