Description
The Kingsman is the biggest warm woody home fragrance oil we make. Cardamom and black pepper open it, Brazilian rosewood and oud take the middle, and sandalwood, vetiver, tonka bean, amber and vanilla build slowly underneath. This is not one for a first try.
What The Kingsman smells like
Spice first — cardamom, green and slightly citrusy, with black pepper behind it. That part is over quickly. What follows is the whole point: Brazilian rosewood, sweet and resinous, and oud sitting underneath it doing what oud does, which is fill the available space and refuse to leave.
The base takes half an hour to arrive properly and is worth waiting for. Sandalwood and amber carry the warmth, tonka bean and vanilla add a soft, almost edible edge, and vetiver runs through the middle of it keeping the sweetness in check. By the time it has settled, the room smells like somewhere a decision is about to be made.
It is deliberately heavy. If you use the same amount you would use of a citrus oil, you will notice.

Where to use this warm woody home fragrance oil
Dining rooms, living rooms and studies — rooms with people in them and something happening. It is the warm woody home fragrance oil to run before guests arrive, because it establishes itself in about twenty minutes and then holds for hours without needing topping up.
Autumn and winter suit it best. In a small bedroom in July it is simply too much, and no amount of restraint at the bottle solves that.
Larger rooms with hard floors and high ceilings are where it makes the most sense. A warm woody home fragrance oil of this weight needs volume to move through; in a small carpeted room it settles and concentrates instead of circulating, which is when people find it overwhelming.
Is The Kingsman right for you?
Choose it if you want to be able to smell the room from the doorway. Oud and rosewood at this concentration are unmistakable, and if you have been disappointed by wood fragrances that fade in an hour, this is the answer to that.
Be honest about the size of your space. If your rooms are small or you share them, The Ace is the sensible version of this idea — bergamot, plain wood, oakmoss, easy to live with. If you want depth without the volume, The Blancos gets there through sandalwood and magnolia instead and is much quieter about it.
Worth knowing before you buy: this is the fragrance most likely to be noticed and commented on, for better and worse. People either ask what it is or open a window. There is not much middle ground with oud.
How to use it
This is a concentrated oil for cold-air diffusion, not a reed diffuser, candle or wax burner. Start with one or two drops in The Wisp Mini — fewer than you would use of anything else in the range — and build from there.
